David Safaii, Chief Executive Officer
David Safaii is CEO of Trilio Data. With more than 15 years of business management and executive leadership expertise, David is responsible for the strategic direction, operations, and growth of the company.
Prior to leading Trilio Data, David founded and served as SVP of BurstPoint Networks. During his tenure with the company, he successfully raised venture funding, grew revenues and exited with an acquisition by Avaya. Previously, David was a Principal at Windspeed Ventures, focused on investing in and working with portfolio companies in infrastructure software as it relates to the digital media, communications, mobile, security, storage, internet of things and software as a service markets. He helped manage one of the largest venture portfolios in the US. Prior to his tenure at Windspeed, David served with the Technology Investment Banking Group at CIBC World Markets. With a B.A in Computer Information Processing from Boston College, David has been recognized by Boston Business Journal as one of Boston’s “40 Under 40” and a “New Leader” award recipient from Banker & Tradesmen.
Outside of Trilio, David enjoys tennis, FIFA soccer, and seeking out live music. David is an advocate for volunteerism. He founded the New England Venture Network (NEVN), the largest networking group of young venture capital professionals on the East Coast. He served as Board Director at the United Way and as a Techstars mentor, and is the founding City Director for House of Genius.
Murali Balcha, Founder and CTO
Murali Balcha, Founder and CTO of Trilio Data, is a seasoned technical leader with more than 15 years of experience delivering breakthrough technologies to market. Prior to joining Trilio Data, he served as an engineering leader at EMC, where he led the development of numerous storage, virtualization and cloud computing innovations and established EMC’s leadership in disaster recovery, and VMware integration.
Murali is actively involved with OpenStack community, particularly in the areas of storage and data protection. He has a Masters in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and a Bachelors from Andhra University, Hyderabad.
In his spare time, Murali enjoys mountain biking and hiking with his family.
Tom Lahive, GM for Cloud, Service Providers, and Technology Alliance Partner
Tom Lahive is General Manager for Cloud, Service Providers, and Technology Alliance Partners. A key member of the Trilio leadership team, Tom is focused on building and managing the team that is responsible for sales, enablement, and marketing to OpenStack service providers and technology alliance partners. He is also focused on developing processes, procedures, and tools to support and streamline the company’s sales efforts.
Lahive joined Trilio Data from copy data virtualization company, Actifio, where he served as global director for the service provider program. While at Actifio he initiated the Service Provider program and brokered and managed key relationships with Verizon, IBM, and SunGard. He also held previous roles at market-making technology suppliers EMC/Avamar and StorageNetworks, and was an industry analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, Gartner Group, and IDC.
Hernan Alvarez – Chief Product Officer
Hernan has over 19 years of building and leading technology companies and teams. His career has focused on driving aggressive growth, building cutting edge products, and creating energetic environments that foster success for technology companies, employees, and clients alike. Prior to joining Blue Box, Hernan was Senior Director of Architecture and Operations at HP, where he built and managed technical operations for their public cloud offering and architecture for the private cloud offering, both based on OpenStack and Open Source solutions.
Before joining HP, Hernan served as Senior Director of Operations at WhitePages. Coming in as an agent of change, the first year resulted in the successful upgrade of every aspect of Engineering, Product, IT and Operations, increasing product releases twenty fold. This embodied the most advanced aspects of Agile software development, system automation, private cloud and “DevOps.”
Hernan has previously held key leadership roles at Snapvine, Farecast, Mobliss and AdRelevance. He also created and ran his own angel funded startup.
Payal Agrawal Divakaran - Principal (Board of Director)
Payal is a Principal at .406 Ventures, where she supports the team in investing, board involvement, and portfolio management. Payal focuses on cloud infrastructure and healthcare IT.
Prior to joining .406, Payal was at Harvard Business School, where she co-founded a company called SpotRocket to help students discover high potential startups to work for. Prior to her entrepreneurial stint and also while in business school, Payal spent time in Corporate Development at Eventbrite.
Prior to HBS, Payal was an Associate at Spectrum Equity, a technology growth equity investor in Boston. She sourced and executed on deals in the software, information services, data/analytics, security, and internet spaces. Payal started her career pursuing technology investment banking at J.P. Morgan in NYC.
Payal received her MBA, with Distinction, from Harvard Business School and her BS in Electrical Engineering and minor in Management from MIT.
Greg Dracon - Partner (Board of Director)
Greg Dracon is a Partner at .406 Ventures with over 23 years of combined venture investing and high tech operating and management experience. Greg leads 406’s cloud infrastructure practice and co-leads .406’s cybersecurity practice.
Prior to .406, Greg was a Vice President of Core Capital Partners, a venture capital firm focused on early-stage venture and small to mid-sized growth technology companies. At Core, Greg focused on cybersecurity, digital media, technology-enabled services and wireless applications.
From 1995 to 2005, Greg held a variety of operating and management roles within the high tech industry, including positions in worldwide sales, business development, product distribution and digital signal processing applications.
Greg received his MBA, with majors in Entrepreneurial Management and Finance, from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his BS in Electrical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
Rob Scott – Chief Executive Officer
A 30-year industry veteran who was named by Ernst & Young as its Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002, Rob is currently the CEO of Bradford Networks. Previously, Rob served as CEO of Clique Intelligence a software platform for data sharing and collaboration technologies. In 2008 Rob was appointed, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at HP ProCurve Networking, the world’s fastest growing networking company.
Rob joined HP through its 2008 acquisition of Colubris Networks, where he had served as president and CEO, helping the company ascend to a prominent position in the wireless LAN industry. During his career, Rob has steered the helm of several technology companies as president and CEO, including Xelor Software, an IP telephony company, and IPeria, a provider of network-based voice messaging applications. In addition Rob was President of ONET Networks and MultiLink, and as CEO and founder of Octave Communications.
Randy Seidl – Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Seidl is a global technology board director, operating executive, and consultant with extensive sales and executive leadership experience. Put simply, Randy helps companies grow. He is known for his unique ability to scale emerging growth and Fortune 500 technology companies. He has served as Board Chairman, Board Director, Chief Executive Officer, and SVP/General Manager in industry-leading organizations such as Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems, StorageTek, and EMC Corporation. He has a record of consistently increasing company value through his strategic leadership, go-to-market expertise, people skills, and his extensive executive relationship network.
In 2013, Randy founded Revenue Acceleration to help tech company CEO’s become better leaders, improve their company’s culture, and accelerate revenue growth. He uses his strategic and tactical go-to-market experience along with his relationships with more than 500 tech industry executives at distributors, resellers, the largest OEM’s, industry analysts, and end users. Due to the growing demand for high performing talent, he also founded Top Talent Recruiting, a fee based recruiting business, where he leverages his powerful network of thousands of professionals who have worked under him over the years. Randy has extensive board directorship experience. He is currently a director of Datawatch Corporation (NASDAQ: DWCH), Data Dynamics, and Cloudgenera. He previously Chaired the board of Workgroup Solutions and served as director of Permabit.
He holds the American College of Corporate Directors’ Professional Director Certification, is a National Association of Corporate Directors Fellow, and has attended the Stanford Law School Directors’ College. Randy also consults with and serves on the advisory boards of several companies.
